When you convert a file on BuildPDF, 100% of the processing happens inside your web browser. Your document bytes never leave your device — not even for a millisecond. This means you can safely convert sensitive files: tax documents, medical records, legal contracts, private photos.
No Server Round-Trip
Server-based converters must upload your file, queue it, process it on a remote machine, then re-download the result — often taking 10–30 seconds. BuildPDF processes everything locally using your device's own CPU, which means conversions finish in 1–3 seconds for most files.

BuildPDF is powered by a stack of mature, open-source JavaScript libraries that run natively in modern browsers:
- jsPDF — generates PDF documents directly from image data and HTML content, with full control over page size, margins, and orientation.
- Mammoth.js — parses the Open XML format inside .docx files and extracts the text, headings, lists, and basic formatting without needing Microsoft Office installed.
- PDF.js (by Mozilla) — reads and renders existing PDF files, allowing us to extract text content or render each page as a high-resolution image for re-export.
- JSZip — packages multi-file outputs (e.g., all pages extracted from a PDF as JPG images) into a single downloadable .zip archive.
All of these libraries execute inside your browser's JavaScript engine. Your device does the work — not a server farm somewhere. This approach is called client-side processing, and it's the same reason you can use BuildPDF offline once the page has loaded.
